Northamptonshire Carers are looking for volunteer befrienders to join ‘Breathing Space’

Breathing space is a project for people diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and their unpaid carers. We work alongside Special Respiratory Nurses, Wellbeing Practitioners and GP’s in providing a holistic support service which covers lung health as well as wider wellbeing.
As a Volunteer Befriender you will have regular contact with people who have breathing difficulties Support can be provided in different ways

– By phone
– Within their own home
– Helping people to access social visits outside of their home particularly when they may be feeling anxious about doing so.

We are looking for honest, reliable, confident and friendly volunteers who are interested in other people and can understand the frustrations of living with a long term chronic condition. The role can be flexible as well as rewarding it’s an opportunity to help others and work within a lively, supportive team.
