The Government yesterday published guidance for local authorities on preparations for Remembrance Sunday (see https://bit.ly/3lTyBy5).  It says “The COVID Alert Levels, across all tiers, provide for a specific exception for Remembrance Sunday events for participants and spectators, provided appropriate precautions are undertaken by the event organiser”.  Councils must “carry out a risk assessment and take all reasonable steps to limit the risk of transmission of the virus”.  Of course, the easy option is to cancel services altogether, but councils could consider alternatives, such as live streaming restricted services and “Remembering at Home” (see https://bit.ly/3k3cgO0).
